There is a huge war raging inside
Can’t look on the bright side
I always see my glass as half-empty
I’ve to settle the conflict within me

Life’s path is filled with stumbling blocks
I cannot avoid life’s hard knocks
Everyone tries to play mind games
Always chant the Lord’s Holy Names

The Lord will remove life’s pain
He will break the endless chain
The world is not a fit place for a gentleman
A saint’s concern for our welfare is genuine

Among the Lord’s devotees, he is foremost
You will think, “He loves me the most.”
He will cast his merciful glance
Don’t miss your once in a lifetime chance

The Formidable Foe

Billboards promising instant gratification
Distractions are competing for my attention
I’m unable to suppress the attraction
I am in a most distressful condition

Lust is such a formidable foe
I have become a mad fellow
There is always a major crisis
A saint’s good advice is priceless

In a deep dark well, he throws me a rope
I now have a glimmer of hope
I’m now able to make a wise decision
My dear Lord, kindly hear my submission

“In a dream I become a king sitting on my throne.
When will the day come when the dream is gone?
When will the curtain of illusion be withdrawn?
Until then, I pray to You for strength to carry on.”
