yaśomatī-nandana, vraja-vara-nāgara,
gokula-rañjana kāna
gopī-parāṇa-dhana, madana-manohara,
kālīya-damana-vidhāna (1)
Kṛṣṇa is the beloved son of Mother Yaśodā, the topmost hero of Vraja, the delight of Gokula, and Kāna [an affectionate nickname for Kṛṣṇa]. He is the treasure of the lives of the gopīs, the enchanter of Cupid, and the punisher of the serpent Kālīya.
Kṛṣṇa is de lieve zoon van Moeder Yaśodā, de voortreffelijke held van Vraja, de vreugde van Gokula, en Kāna [een andere naam voor Kṛṣṇa]. Hij is de schat van het leven van de gopī’s, de begoochelaar van de liefdesgod en de straffer van de slang Kālīya.

These spotless holy names are filled with Kṛṣṇa’s nectarean pastimes. He is the king of the forests of Vraja and the supreme youthful lover. He holds the flute to His mouth and wears very beautiful garments.
Deze zuivere heilige namen zijn vol van het aangenaam spel en vermaak van Kṛṣṇa. Hij is de heer van de speelbossen van Vraja en de voortreffelijke jeugdige minnaar. Hij houdt de fluit dwars voor Zijn mond en is prachtig getooid in diverse kledingstukken.

He is the maintainer of the residents of Vraja, the killer of many demons, and the protector of Nanda Mahārāja’s herd of cows. He is Govinda (the giver of pleasure to the cows, gopas, and gopīs) and Mādhava (the consort of the topmost Lakṣmī). He is a butter thief and the beautiful cowherd boy of Nanda.
He is de instandhouder van de dorpelingen van Vraja, de vernietiger van vele demonen, en de beschermer van de koeien van Nanda Mahārāja. He wanders along the banks of the Yamunā River, He is the thief of the young gopīs’ clothes, and the enjoyer of the rasa of the rāsa dance. He is full of mercy, the beloved of Śrīmatī Rādhikā, the most expert dancer of Vṛndāvana, and the shelter of Bhaktivinoda.
